UW Lifesaving is located on the shore Lake Mendota between The Edgewater Hotel and James Madison Park. It is the home of Havey, our friendly lifesaving boat. If you ever have problems while sailing, you are encouraged to signal to Harvey for help. The best ways to do this are to lower your sail to 1/4 of its height or turn towards the lifesaving station on top of your boat and wave your arms. Even if you are unable to do this, the friendly Harvey crew will likely come over to assist you if your boat is flipped for a long period of time. Don't feel bad about needing Harvey; even our experienced instructors require their help from time to time!
