Hoofer Sailing, located on beautiful Lake Mendota, has so much to offer!
- Boat repair shop: Here, Hoofer members can volunteer to do repair work on the extensive fleet of boats that belongs to the club.
- Boathouse: You can find all of your sailing needs, sign out boats, rent canoes, and more at the boathouse.
- Chart Room: When you attend ground school, the first step to becoming a Hoofer sailor, and your Tech B lesson, you'll meet in the Chart Room, located in the basement of Memorial Union.
- Hoofer Lounge: Right next to the Chart Room is the Hoofer Lounge , where Board of Captains meetings take place and sailors often come to hang out. It is also right next to the Outdoor Programs Office.
- Outdoor Programs Office: This is the center for all things related to Hoofers. You can sign up for the clubs, buy Hoofer merchandise, and find information and answers to any questions you may have.
- Safety Tower: This is the place to look when weather changes. It houses a red light that flashes in case of inclement weather, as well as the whistle that alerts sailors out of view of the light that it is time to return to shore. It is also where you can find Laser equipment.
- Tunnel: The tunnel serves as the center of the sailing club. In the tunnel, there is a marker board detailing sailing conditions and lesson information. It is also the path to the shop, restrooms, and boathouse.
- UW Lifesaving Station: UW Lifesaving is located between The Edgewater Hotel and James Madison park and is home to Harvey, the helpful lifesaving boat.
With all of these wonderful facilities, what more could you ask for?
